As part of the Brize Meadows development, there will be a brand new, purpose-built school building and grounds for Brize Norton Primary School to relocate to.  The new school building and grounds will meet the demand for additional pupil places from surrounding and nearby housing development, providing a state-of-the-art school facility for the community.  The school will provide a 1 form entry provision with 30 pupils per year group.  

The existing Brize Norton Primary School site has served the community well for many generations but is unsuitable for any further expansion.  The current site does not have important facilities such as a playing field or the space needed to support the evolving needs of the children in the area.  The pupils and staff at Brize Norton Primary school deserve the best possible environment in which to learn and work.  The new school building and grounds will provide this for generations to come and it is envisaged that all existing staff and pupils will stay at Brize Norton Primary when it relocates to its new site. 

The school will continue to be part of the Oxford Diocesean Schools Trust (ODST), and it will remain as part of the Burford Partnership of Schools.  It's vision of We SHINE for ourselves and each other with kindness will stay central to all that is does.  The school's commitment to Forest School, OPAL, pupil leadership and enrichment opportunities will also remain strong, with the forest school and OPAL provision being a part of the planning process. 

The Proposal

The proposals include a purpose build, predominantly single storey, primary school building set within generous grounds with its own playing fields and forest school area.  The proposal has significant educational and community benefits to significantly expand, consolidate and improve the quality fo school accommodation for the community. 

The proposed solution is summarised as follows: 

• New purpose built primary school building incorporating a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP), hall, and full production kitchen.
• Associated landscaping and external spaces including sports pitches, hard games courts, soft play, habitat and forest school areas. 
• Car, motorbike, cycle and scooter parking to meet Oxfordshire County Councils standards. 

Timescales and Funding

The new school will be open for use in August 2028 ready for the new academic year.  It is proposed to submit a planning application in July 2026 and to start construction in June 2027.  The project is funded via Section 106 monies generated by surrounding residential development. 

The school will be designed to be highly suistainable to achieve Net Zero Carbon (NCZ).
