Where some opportunities are planned for, others are recognised as they naturally occur within the children’s learning experiences. We endeavour to deliver a rich curriculum which fosters a love of learning for life as well as building independent, resilient learners with a ‘can do’ attitude.
We believe in the benefit of learning outdoors and all that it has to offer holistically. We offer every class the ability to experience forest school for a school term and are continually looking for opportunities to take children’s learning outside. We use our school grounds and our beautiful village setting to facilitate this as well as provide enrichment activities through topical visits and experiences.
Being a small school of 5 classes, our wider curriculum for Years 1 -6 is created on a 3-year cycle for the Lower School (Years 1 - 3) and the Upper School (Years 4 – 6); whilst the skills for each subject are progressive throughout the school, the knowledge element is founded on the principle of ‘Core and More’. This ensures that all children receive the correct learning at the correct stage in the journey throughout their schooling. At the end of each academic year, we review the curriculum areas taught and then plan the following year to build on and widen the children’s knowledge and skills.
